In this blog post I would like to show you how to install iOS Enterprise Apps on your iPhone and how Updraft our app distribution tool for iOS can help you to avoid the common error “untrusted enterprise developer”.
A company, for example a software or app development company very often uses the Apple Developer Enterprise program to create and distribute iOS applications for their internal use. These iOS Enterprise applications must be trusted during the installation before they can be opened and used.
The first time you download an iOS Enterprise App and click on the app icon on your home screen, an iOS system alert appears.
Untrusted Enterprise Developer. ‘’iPhone Distribution: Enterprise xy’’ has not been trusted on this iPhone. Until this developer has been trusted, their enterprise apps will not be available for use.
You can click on Cancel
After you closed the iOS system alert you need to trust the app developer
Open your iOS System Settings
Go to General
Open Profiles & Device Management
Under the section Enterprise Apps you will see the profile of the developer of the app you would like to install
7. Tap on the Name of the developer. You will see the apps displayed from this developer
8. Click on Trust ‘Developer xy’
You will get another system message asking if you really want to install the developer profile. Confirm this:
Once you have clicked on Trust the iOS distribution profile of your developer is installed. From now on you can install any app that will be distributed by this developer without any problems.
9. Now you can open your app on your homescreen
If you want to delete the installed profile, you can do so at any time. Just go back to the Profiles & Device Management section, select the developer profile and delete it.
I’m sure some of you are familiar with the following problem: You distribute your app to your testers and your employees, but they are unable to install it on their iphones!
At first, you probably have horrible thoughts about your app having a bug rushing through your head. But fortunately you quickly realize that your employees only have to trust the iOS developer. For this you might write a manual for your employees and your testers in which you describe exactly how they have to install your app according to our tutorial described above. Fair enough - however, Updraft will save you some time and do this for you with a user friendly web tutorial.
With Updraft you can create new app releases. While creating the new release for your iOS testers:
You can select the exact app version you want to distribute
You can add the testers or groups to your release
You can add release notes so that your testers are informed about what your app can do
You can activate the web tutorial that shows your people how to install iOS enterprise apps
Once you have activated the Web Tutorial in your release and sent the release to your testers, they will receive an email with an installation link to your app.
Once they have clicked on the link, Updraft’s web app opens and the app can be installed.
During the installation your testers will be guided through the tutorial, which shows them how to install enterprise iOS apps. It’s that easy!
With Updraft, you can distribute your Enterprise iOS App carefree and you don't have to worry about whether your employees or your testers can install your enterprise app. Unable to install ipa & untrusted developers error never again!
